Man fatally shoots co-worker in Texas restaurant, cops say. Relative turns him in
A 20-year-old restaurant worker shot his co-worker in the head, killing him inside the business, Texas authorities say.
Talano Garcia, accused of firing the fatal shots at Cafe Ole in San Antonio, now faces a murder charge following the March 16 incident, according to News4SA.
The San Antonio Police Department said Garcia walked up to the 43-year-old victim and shot him in the head for unknown reasons.
The victim, identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office as 43-year-old David Alvarado, died at the scene, KSAT reported.
Garcia fled after the shooting, but officers later arrived at a different address “when a family member called the police to advise that their relative may have been involved in a shooting near the Riverwalk,” police said.
Officers then took the 20-year-old into custody, police said.
In a statement to KENS, Cafe Ole said the shooting happened in the back of the restaurant and no other employees or customers were involved.
“This was an isolated incident and nothing similar has ever occurred in our 30+ year history,” the restaurant said. “The safety of our customers and employees is of (utmost) importance. We are working with our staff to help them through this difficult period.”
