Bloody man running on road was begging for help before he died, Texas cops say
A man in a blood-stained shirt tried to flag down help before dying on a freeway service road in Texas, police say.
The man, identified as 23-year-old Otto Pop Coc, had been stabbed, the Houston Police Department said in a March 17 news release.
Coc was seen running along a Gulf Freeway service road — on Houston’s southeast side — asking for help at about 10 p.m. Friday, March 14, police said.
“A witness, who did not observe the stabbing but saw the victim with blood on his shirt, provided medical assistance and called 9-1-1,” the release said.
Fire department paramedics arrived on the scene and pronounced Coc dead, according to police.
Coc lost a lot of blood before he died, Lt. R. Willkens told KTRK.
“There’s a blood trail that goes all the way into an apartment complex. Quite a long one actually,” he said at the scene.
Police say they don’t know what may have motivated the attack and they have no description of a suspect.
Anyone with information related to the case is asked to contact investigators at 713-308-3600.
