A missing mother of two was found dead in a wooded area weeks after she was believed to have crashed her vehicle, Missouri authorities say.

Nicole Jung, 45, was driving to pick up her husband around 6 p.m. on Feb. 28 when she went missing, according to the St. Louis County Police Department.

Her husband, Jason Jung, said he received a text from his wife saying she was running late, KMOV reported. That was their last communication.

Within hours, he reported his wife as missing, the husband said in a GoFundMe.

Authorities searched for Nicole Jung for nearly three weeks until she was discovered “in a wooded area just off the roadway” in Fenton on March 20, police said. Her crashed vehicle was discovered nearby.

“She was literally one mile from my office,” Jason Jung told KMOV.

Police believe the woman was speeding before the crash, according to KTVI. Her injuries were “consistent with a car crash,” the news outlet reported.

Authorities could not pinpoint exactly when Nicole Jung crashed her car, but it’s not believed to have “happened recently,” police said.

Jason Jung said in a GoFundMe their family had just moved into a new St. Louis home days before she vanished. He said their family is “devastated” by her death.

“Nikki was the kind of person that brightened up a room. You know, wherever she went, she wore her heart on her sleeve,” Jason Jung told KSDK. “She loved being a mom. She was an amazing mom.”
