An 87-year-old woman was found unconscious in her bathroom after her grandson told Maryland officers he killed her, police said.

Spencer Dillon Hamilton, 27, walked into the Rockville police station on Sunday, March 30, and told officers he killed a family member, the Montgomery County Department of Police said in a March 31 news release.

Hamilton’s grandmother, 87-year-old Pauline Yvonne Titus-Dillon, was found unresponsive in her bathroom at about 8 a.m. when police responded to the Potomac home, according to officers.

Titus-Dillon “was pronounced dead at the scene,” police said.

According to court documents, Hamilton told officers he was “lying in wait” in his grandmother’s bedroom closet at about 4 a.m. while she was in the bathroom, WUSA and WRC-TV reported.

When she returned, he jumped out and attacked her, the outlets reported, citing charging documents.

Hamilton told police he stabbed, strangled and punched his grandmother before moving her body into the restroom and leaving with her credit card, cellphone and laptop, WUSA and WRC-TV reported, citing the documents.

Hamilton was arrested at the police department and charged with first-degree murder, police said.

Potomac is about a 15-mile drive northwest from Washington, D.C.
