Violent home invasion was cover for execution of mom shot 10 times, FL cops say
A woman shot 10 times as she slept with her children was the target of a “heinous murder” staged to look like a home invasion, according to Florida investigators.
Two men have been charged in the killing of Porshe Nikita Shanee’ Streeter, including the father of her three children, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said in an April 3 news release.
That man, Saun Rainge Jr., arranged to be wounded to better sell the purported home invasion, investigators say.
He is now charged with first-degree murder, along with his partner in the plot, Benjamin Garmon, the sheriff’s office said.
Their arrests were announced April 3, nearly 15 months after deputies showed up at an apartment near Orlando to find “a man and woman, both in their 30’s, who had been shot.”
“In January of 2024, 30-year-old Porshe Streeter was shot multiple times while she slept in bed with her three children. Thankfully, none of the children were physically harmed,” the sheriff’s office said.
“The father of those children, Saun Rainge Jr., told responding deputies that there was a home invasion and that he was also shot — a flesh wound in the arm. Rainge’s story didn’t ring true for our homicide detectives.”
A plot in action
Porshe Streeter and Saun Rainge Jr. have known each other since high school, and they have three children together, ages 10, 2 and 1 at the time of the killing, an affidavit reports.
“Their relationship is described by some as toxic, with a history of undocumented domestic violence and infidelity,” the report states.
She was a hairdresser and lived alone with the children, though Rainge was known to “occasionally stay the night,” officials said.
Rainge said he “came to check on” his family the night of the killing and was a witness, the affidavit states.
An armed man dressed in black and wearing a mask broke into the apartment, and kept asking for money, Rainge told investigators.
Streeter was trying to call for help when she was shot repeatedly “in her legs and arms,” and Rainge said his wound happened as he tried to shield their sleeping children, the affidavit states.
Deputies said they spotted inconsistencies in the story almost immediately, starting with the fact Rainge “thought Porshe was okay because he was just talking to her” before calling 911.
Closer inspection of the body revealed she had been dead long enough for her blood to dry, officials said.
An investigation found surveillance video of Rainge and Benjamin Garmon “simultaneously standing behind Porshe Streeter’s apartment,” officials said.
And cell phone records revealed the men spoke “approximately 18 times in the hours leading up to Porshe Streeter’s death,” the report states.
Garmon, who lives about 1 mile from the crime scene, has “denied shooting Porshe Streeter or home invading the apartment,” officials said.
The motive
Saun Rainge Jr. has not admitted to being behind Porshe Streeter’s death, or to knowing the man said to have invaded her apartment that night, according to investigators.
Detectives say he had motive, however, including accusations of infidelity and a belief Streeter “was in a relationship with another man.”
Text messages revealed the couple was engaged “in a very intense argument” around the time of her death, and she had demanded he return his key to her home.
“There were multiple motives for Saun Rainge Jr. to murder Porshe. ... Rainge Jr. said Porshe Streeter was supposed to give him full custody of the children, but from the final text messages between them, it was clear that she was not going to do so,” the affidavit states.
Investigators believe Rainge “enlisted (Benjamin) Garmon to shoot and kill Porshe,” with the idea of blaming it on a violent home invasion.
