An Alabama man is accused of shooting and killing his wife, police said.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting April 4 at a house in Albertville, about 80 miles northeast from Birmingham, the Guntersville Police Department said in a news release.

There they found a woman who had been shot, police said. She was taken to a hospital where she died.

The Marshall County Coroner’s Office identified the woman in an April 7 news release as 38-year-old Lesley Marie Ward.

Her husband, 34-year-old Steven Ward, was arrested and charged with murder, according to police.

A motive has not been revealed, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
