Watch tiny yet ‘brave’ grizzly cub explore Yellowstone for first time with mom
A tiny grizzly bear cub was spotted exploring Yellowstone National Park with its mom for the first time, adorable video shows.
After a little while, the little cub grows bold and even runs ahead of its mom in the snow, video shared by Yellowstone guide Andrea Baratte shows. Mom quickly catches up in just a few strides as the cub hangs back to wait for her.
Baratte shared the video of the “amazing sighting” to his wildlife photography account on Instagram on April 7.
“This morning was special,” he wrote in the caption. “We waited a long time for a female grizzly bear and her cub to emerge from behind a tree. This is the earliest I have ever seen a cub of the year (COY) grizzly bear in Yellowstone.”
Baratte also recently filmed what he said was the first bison calf born this year in the park — which he said was also born early for the year.
“Imagine how exciting it is for the little one to see the world for the first time,” someone said of the grizzly bear cub touring the park with its mom.
“It seems like a brave cub as it walks far away by itself!” Baratte replied.
Several people pointed out just how “tiny” the cub looks, especially next to its mom’s hulking frame.
“Cuteness overload!!” another person said of the footage.
