Sea creatures steal the show in ‘glassy’ California waters. See the ‘great day’

A group of sea creatures were spotted surfacing from “glassy” California waters and onlookers called it a “great day.”
On April 7, the Monterey Bay Whale Watch company saw the “perfect combination” of Risso’s dolphins and clear water, according to a Facebook post by the group.
Along with the 100 dolphins, viewers on the 9 a.m. boat got the chance to see 18 humpback whales and five pacific white-sided dolphins, bystanders said. Eight more humpback whales caught the attention of witnesses on the 1:30 p.m. excursion.
Viewers even got the chance to see a dolphin with its mouth open, photos showed.

Risso’s dolphins prefer deeper offshore waters and can hold their breath for 30 minutes with the ability to dive at least 1,000 feet, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
They have a robust body with a narrow tail and can reach lengths of 8.5 to 13 feet, weighing anywhere from 660 to 1,100 pounds, the NOAA said.
Monterey is about a 120-mile drive south of San Francisco.
