A 77-year-old Uber driver was shot and killed in Pennsylvania, according to police.

Philadelphia police responded to a shooting around 2 a.m. April 16, according to a police department news release.

Police said someone opened fire on 77-year-old Olatunji W. Bolaji’s Chevrolet Suburban.

Bolaji and a 22-year-old passenger were both shot, according to police. Bolaji drove the vehicle a short distance before crashing, police said.

Bolaji was pronounced dead at the scene, police said, and the passenger was left in critical condition.

Bolaji was an Uber driver, WCAU reported.

“The story isn’t shocking to me that this man was brutally killed. It’s heartbreaking, but it’s very real,” Allison Phillips, a ride-hailing driver, told KYW-TV. “This is very real.”

Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small told the news outlet the shooting was targeted.

“Our hearts break for the driver’s family and loved ones in the wake of this devastating loss,” Uber spokesperson told WCAU in a statement. “We’ve reached out to police to offer our support as they work to bring those responsible for this heinous act of violence to justice.”

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them, and they are offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
