Dog with a ‘deeply loving soul’ has been at shelter for 800 days. Meet John Wick
A pup with a very familiar name has been patiently waiting nearly 800 days for someone to notice him in one Philadelphia shelter.
John Wick — of course, named after the dog-loving assassin played by Keanu Reeves in the hit thriller franchise— has spent his days watching people pass him by at the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) nearly three years.
“When he was first rescued by our Animal Law Enforcement team in February of 2023, he was very confused. His life had only been filled with uncertainty and he struggled adjusting to kennel life,” the shelter said in an April 27 Facebook post.
“But now, over two years later, JW is better than ever. He is a playful, polite, and deeply loving soul. The people who know him adore him. They see how good he is, how loyal and easy to love. He is open to meeting older kids and other lowkey dogs.”
The “all heart” dog is around 5 years old and absolutely loves people, his pet profile says. He’s a silly, “fun-loving” dog who loves to learn and prefers “nonchalant” dogs in a household.
“John Wick is not giving up. He still believes his home is out there,” the shelter says.
