Man ‘came out of nowhere’ at park, then kidnapped and beat 3 boys, NV cops say
A man is accused of kidnapping three boys in Nevada and handing out beatings with tools.
The man encountered the juveniles May 6 at a park in Fernley, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said in a May 7 post on Facebook. He “came out of nowhere with his fists balled up” and described himself as a cartel member, deputies said.
McClatchy isn’t naming the man because it’s unclear if formal charges have been filed.
He was arrested in connection with kidnapping, false imprisonment, child abuse, robbery and battery charges, deputies said.
One of the juveniles said the man slapped him and told them he wasn’t afraid of jail “and that if he went to jail, he was going to kill them,” according to deputies.
The man took the kids down an alley to a nearby home, deputies said.
They were “forced into the crawl space under the house” and “were continually removed from the crawl space and beaten,” according to deputies, who said the beatings were recorded.
Two of the juveniles had “substantial injuries from” being hit with a scythe and a wooden rake handle, deputies said in a separate May 7 post on Facebook.
Deputies found the boys within about an hour of the man approaching them at the park, deputies said.
The juveniles were treated and reunited with their families, according to deputies. Their ages weren’t released.
Fernley is about a 35-mile drive northeast from Reno.
