Bear falls through attic, is found sitting on stove at Kentucky home, photos show
Wildlife officials helped remove a black bear found hanging out in the kitchen of a Kentucky home after an impressive, yet clumsy break-in, photos show.
A game warden responded to a call about a bear inside a Bell County home at about 5 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, state Fish and Wildlife Law Enforcement said in a May 25 Facebook post.
The bear was not difficult to find.
“Upon arrival, the bear was located sitting on the stove in the kitchen,” officials said and a photo shows.
But how did the bear enter the home in the first place?
Officials say it likely climbed a ladder outside and “squeezed through an opening into the attic,” which is a feat you might expect from a raccoon or opossum.
However, the bear came crashing through the ceiling, as evidenced by the large hole it left behind, photos show.
Officials sent the large woodland intruder on its way without any harm done – unless you count the damage to the house.
“With assistance from a Bell Co. Sheriff’s Deputy, Warden (Derick) Creech was able to run the bear out through an open door,” officials said.
Bell County is a roughly 130-mile drive southeast from Lexington.
