Body found by swimmers in river may be missing 18-year-old, Washington cops say

A medical examiner will confirm the identity of a body found in the Columbia River in Washington, police said.

Swimmers discovered a body in a river that may be a missing man, Washington police said.

The body was discovered at about 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 30, in the Columbia River, the Vancouver Police Department said in a news release.

Police said they believe the body belongs to missing 18-year-old Franky Fred.

Fred was last seen by friends May 23 near Vancouver Lake, police said.

Some of his belongings were found on the lake’s beach after his disappearance, police said.

A medical examiner will confirm the identity and cause of death.

Vancouver is near the Washington-Oregon border.
