Democratic voters nominated Susie Lee on Tuesday to run in Nevada's 3rd Congressional District, a Las Vegas-area swing seat that could help decide control of the U.S. House of Representatives in November, U.S. media projected.

The district is among a small number of battlegrounds expected to shape the balance of power in Congress.

Incumbent Democratic Representative Susie Lee, who was reelected by nearly 3 percentage points in 2024 despite Trump's narrow win in the district, sought renomination against cardiologist James Lally, a self-funded former Republican who has put $1 million into his campaign. Other candidates were Marine Corps veteran Terrill Robinson and Brandon West, who ran unsuccessfully for the state Senate in 2018.

Lee raised $3.9 million and reported more than $3.3 million on hand by May 20, compared with $261,000 for Lally, according to pre-primary filings.

The Democratic nominee will face the Republican winner in what is expected to be a closely fought general election contest. Final results could take time, as Nevada processes votes under procedures that can delay official calls in close races.
