A tiny American bird recently made a rare appearance across the pond, captivating scores of English birdwatchers 2,000 miles from home.

The foreign, feathered traveler — a yellow warbler — was first spotted in New Hythe, a village in Kent, on Christmas Eve, according to KentLive.

Described as an “extremely rare visitor to Britain and Ireland” by the British Trust for Ornithology, the lone warbler has drawn hundreds of birdwatchers to the area, hoping to catch a glimpse, according to The Telegraph.

Photos posted to Facebook show a massive crowd of people lining a path — many with binoculars or other specialized equipment — looking for the bird.

“It kept the 400 or so birders waiting but finally showed itself just after midday,” one Leicester resident wrote on Dec. 27.

Sensational day in Kent yesterday, with prolonged point blank views of the American yellow warbler at New Hythe,” a birdwatcher wrote in a Dec. 28 post, which included photos of the minuscule, lemon-colored creature perched in a tree. “No better way to end the birding year.”

Another poster, seemingly stupefied by the gathered crowds, wrote, “Not Taylor SWIFT but a Yellow Warbler … apparently.”

The species is widespread throughout the Americas, nesting from Alaska to the Caribbean to Peru, according to the American Bird Conservancy.

It is distinguished by its yellow plumage, with males displaying a reddish streak on their chests. They primarily eat insects and are avid singers, using songs during courtship and to alert others to danger.

While rare in the U.K., the yellow warbler has been spotted there several times before — with the most recent sighting in 2017, according to The Telegraph.

New Hythe is about a 35-mile drive southeast from London.
