Carson, Rubio, Bush to campaign in York Co. on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday

It’s shaping up to be a busy week of politicking in York County, leading up to the Feb. 20 Republican presidential primary.

▪ Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson has two appearances scheduled for Sunday in Fort Mill: 11 a.m. at MorningStar Fellowship Church, 375 Starlight Drive; and 2 p.m. at Narroway Productions, 3357 S.C. 51. He also is set to visit Carolina Christian Academy, 1850 Kershaw-Camden Highway, Lancaster, at 2 p.m. Monday. Details about tickets can be found at bencarson.com.

▪ U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida will be at York Technical College’s Hood Center, 375 S. Anderson Road, Rock Hill, at 8 a.m. Monday. Doors open at 7:15 a.m. Go to rub.io/4dk7RA for tickets. On-site registration might be available, depending on how many people register for tickets ahead of time.

▪ Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush plans to be at Ebenezer Grill, 1525 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, Tuesday morning, said Wes Climer, chairman of the York County Republican Party. The event is scheduled to start at 8 a.m. and last an hour, Ebenezer Grill owner Loyd Ardrey said.

Rubio is coming off a disappointing finish in New Hampshire after finishing third in Iowa. His York County appearance is the first time he has been back for a public event since last year.

Carson, once a frontrunner in South Carolina polls, received just 2 percent of the vote in New Hampshire but said in a Rock Hill stop Thursday that he expects to do better in the Palmetto State. Carson hosted a large event at Winthrop Coliseum in late 2015 but has attracted far fewer people in stops since.

Bush has had disappointing results in both Iowa and New Hampshire. He is expected to campaign in South Carolina with his brother, former President George W. Bush, on Monday, but it is unclear if the former president will be in Rock Hill Tuesday.
