Rep. John King, D-York County and Chairman-Elect of the S.C. Legislative Black Caucus said Saturday he will file a House Resolution on Monday proclaiming that Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump is not welcome in the state of South Carolina.
The House Resolution is a response to Trump's visit to Rock Hill on Friday night where a Muslim woman was removed from the campaign rally. King said Saturday he was “sick to his stomach” over Trump’s remarks and the treatment of a Muslim woman. King said he felt he had to stand up for everyone in York County as well as South Carolina.
The text of King’s proposed resolutions is: "Donald Trump is a race-baiting, xenophobic bigot and is not welcome in the state of South Carolina."
King said he expects the resolution to get bipartisan support.

King said he intentionally used the words of Republican South Carolina Lindsey Graham words to describe Donald Trump.
King said most of the Trump supporters at Friday’s rally had likely never met a Muslim and all they knew about Muslims was “what they heard on Fox news.”
“Trump plays to their fears,” King said.
"Democrats and Republicans don't agree on much in South Carolina, but most of us agree that Donald Trump is an embarrassment to our country's political process and stands contrary to the beliefs of our Founding Fathers and the values of the United States Constitution." King said in a statement.
"Why would we welcome someone to our great state when even our senior Republican U.S. senator agrees that Donald Trump is nothing more than a modern day George Wallace who preys on people's fears and prejudices. It's time to stand up to this big mouthed bigot once and for all by announcing that he is no longer welcome in the Palmetto State.
“Last summer, our state came together and brought down a symbol of hatred and bigotry from the state house. It's time to once again come together and tell yet another symbol of hatred and bigotry, Mr. Donald J. Trump, that he is no longer welcome in the great state of South Carolina."
King noted there is a history in Rock Hill of fighting racism.
"In addition to recently celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Friendship Nine, a famous sit-in at a segregated lunch counter in town, Rock Hill proudly displays our "No Room For Racism" motto on all city limits signs," King said. "Mr. Trump must have missed them on his way into town.
“It was a sad day in South Carolina, a sad day in York County and a sad day in Rock Hill,” King said Saturday.
