Frogs are especially beloved by the children of Rock Hill, and Come-See-Me has plenty of frog-related fun during the festival.

There is a frog-jumping competition, frog-crafting fun, a kazoo parade led by frogs, a puppet show about saving frogs and plenty of other leaping activities for toddlers to teens.

The festival kicks off its line-up of activities geared to kids on April 17, with Chalk on Main and Musical Mania, held near Fountain Park.

In a celebration of music with hands-on stations and a kazoo parade with festival mascots Glen and Glenda, this year Musical Mania is from 4:30 to 7 p.m. At the same time on the street in front of the park, artists of all ages and abilities will spruce up downtown Rock Hill at Chalk on Main. Sidewalk chalk and kazoos are provided.

The ever-competitive Mayor’s Frog Jump will be held from 10 a.m. to noon April 18 at Cherry Park. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Children may borrow or bring a lucky frog and coach their hopping friend to victory at this popular event. The top three human winners receive a prize.

In the afternoon is the Healthy Kid Zone, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Giordana Velodrome at the Rock Hill Outdoor Center. In addition to a tricycle race for kids ages two to six, there will be inflatables, fitness and dancing. Bike helmets will be fitted and given out, too.

“The Green Heaven Royal Spa Frog Resort” puppet show and fun frog facts talk by Steve Fields of the Culture and Heritage Museums will take place at 2 p.m. April 18 and 1:30 p.m. April 22 at the Community Performance Center.

The event is intended to explain, in kid-friendly terms, how some of the chemicals we use in our gardens are bad for the animals that live there.

The perennial favorite, Sundaes with Glen and Mother Goose, is set for 2-5 p.m. on the first Sunday of the festival. Children can enjoy PW’s ice cream with the mascot and his friends at Glencairn Garden. There will be a stuffed animal medical clinic as well as face painting, balloons and storytelling. Ice cream sundaes are $2.

Crafts of the leaping kind are the main event at Jumping Jeepers Frog Crafts from 10-11 a.m. April 20, and 5:30-6:30 p.m. April 21 at the York County Library. Children of all ages are invited to this free event.

Boys and girls, ages 3 to 6, will be the guests of honor at a tea party from 3:30-4:30 p.m. April 21, at the Winthrop University Campus Green. At the Teddy Bear Tea Party, bears are encouraged to come along with a new or gently used toy that will be donated to a local children’s charity. Reservations can be made at csm-teddybearteaparty.eventbrite.com or by calling 803-323-4633.

The Main Street Children’s Museum is the venue for Main Street is Hopping from 10 a.m. to noon April 18, and Froggy Friends from 10 a.m. to noon on April 22. Both events are designed for ages 6 and younger. Admission is $5 per person.

Crayons, markers, paint and craft paper are the media for the annual Come-See-Me coloring contest, featuring this year’s logo with a bowtie-wearing Glen the Frog at Glencairn Garden. Entries will be on display on the second floor of the Gettys Center. An awards reception will be held at 5:30 p.m. April 23 at the Main Street Children’s Museum.

Another popular activity is Everything Trucks – a parking lot full of vehicles that will be open explore. The First Baptist Church parking area at 481 Hood Center will be converted into a truck lot from 9 a.m. to noon on April 25. Horn honking is encouraged.
