Westwood player injured Friday in Clover game
Westwood High School football player Mark Mickens remains hospitalized after suffering an injury during Friday’s win over Clover High. The injury occurred when Mickens, a defensive back, was making a play against a Clover receiver coming over the middle.
Mickens, a junior, was in his first year as a starter after seeing playing time a sophomore last season. Westwood coach Rodney Summers couldn’t comment on Mickens’ condition Saturday because a student’s medical condition is confidential and district officials cannot provide information.
After news of Mickens’ injury spread, Westwood players, students and those from other schools in the Midlands took to social media sending well wishes using the hashtag #PrayforMark.
