First brewhouse at Concord Mills mall needs to push back its opening date
Concord Mills’ first brewhouse and casual dining restaurant will open its fourth North Carolina location a month later than expected, the company confirmed to the Observer.
BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse was expected to open Monday at the Concord mall, the Observer previously reported. However, it is now expected to open March 28, company spokeswoman Stacy Lewis said this week. A reason for the delay was not provided Tuesday.
The restaurant will be in a 7,000-square-foot space near H&M and Bonefish Grill at the Concord mall. BJ’s will hire about 160 employees for the Concord site.
BJ’s will not brew on-site. Instead, the California-based company’s five microbreweries supply beer to restaurants in the chain.
About the restaurant
BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse is known for deep dish pizzas and its trademarked Pizookie dessert, a pizza-cookie hybrid topped with ice cream. The menu also includes thin pizza, appetizers, burgers and pasta.
Other BJ’s locations in the Carolinas are at Hanes Mall in Winston-Salem, Centrum at Crossroads shopping center in Cary and Columbiana Station Shopping Center in Columbia.
The 44-year-old company started brewing beer in 1996. The chain has more than 200 restaurants in 29 states under brand names BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, BJ’s Restaurant & Brewery, BJ’s Pizza & Grill and BJ’s Grill.
