NC woman who beat 1 in 3.35 million odds shows up to claim her lottery jackpot

A North Carolina woman who beat odds of 1 in 3.35 million appeared at lottery headquarters in Raleigh on Friday to claim her $1 million Jumbo Bucks jackpot, lottery officials said.

Adlett Squires of Charlotte bought the $10 scratch-off ticket at Murphy USA on Galleria Boulevard, according to a lottery news release.

Squires took her prize as a $600,000 lump sum, officials said. After taxes, she took home $427,503, according to the lottery. She could have taken her win as a $50,000 annuity over 20 years, officials said.

When she appeared at lottery headquarters, Squires didn’t reveal how she’ll spend the money. She couldn’t be reached by The Charlotte Observer on Saturday.
