Son shoots at deputies as they search home for drugs, NC cops say. Dad also arrested
A son shot at deputies as they entered his and his father’s residence to search for drugs, according to a North Carolina sheriff’s office.
The deputies announced they were law enforcement and entered the Greensboro home on July 20 to execute a narcotics-related search warrant, according to a statement from the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office.
A 20-year-old armed with a rifle opened fire on the deputies, the statement says. The deputies returned fire, but no one was struck.
Both the 20-year-old and his father, a 39-year-old man, were arrested, the statement says.
The son was charged with two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer with a firearm, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and one count of possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, according to the sheriff’s office.
His father was charged with two counts of cocaine trafficking, and one count each of possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and possession of a firearm by a felon, the sheriff’s office said.
The son is being held on a $252,000 bond, and his father is being held on a $75,000 bond, according to the sheriff’s office.
Greensboro is about 75 miles northwest of Raleigh.
