Historic NC Blue Ridge Mountains home among top vacation rentals in the world, Airbnb says
From beautiful beach houses to cozy cabins, there is a wide variety of special stays for travelers in North Carolina — including one that’s been rated among the best in the world.
Just in time for a busy summer travel season, Airbnb released a report revealing 10 of the top 1% homes around the world, as part of its launch of a new highlight of top listings based on guest ratings, reviews and reliability.
“From stunning lofts in Spain and Italy to a variety of cottages and carriage houses in Mississippi and North Carolina, these homes are rich in history and character, feature stunning views, and are listed by some of Airbnb’s most hospitable hosts,” the report states.
Of the many, many vacation homes rated among the top 1 percent of homes on Airbnb, a historic carriage house in the Blue Ridge Mountains has been rated one of the best — with a 4.98 rating.
“For guests whose idea of a quality stay involves watching goats play, listening to the birds and reading their favorite book, this carriage house located in historic Valle Crucis checks all the boxes,” Airbnb’s report states. “A stay at this listing gives you the opportunity to explore the granite cliffs overlooking the Watauga river and valley or enjoy tranquil walks through the pine and spruce forest.”
Nestled between Banner Elk and Boone, the two-level cottage home sits on a 10-acre working farm with private space on the upper and lower floors that can be separately booked on Airbnb for up to six guests each for about $117+ a night.
“With 10 acres and a gazebo in our large private park just a short walk to the Watauga River, you’ll have plenty to do. We are a quick 7-mile drive to App State football games or concerts. In the winter, ski or tube at any of the four resorts an easy 10-14 miles away,” the Airbnb listing says.
“Relax in the hammock and listen to the birds or watch the fireflies in the forest. Or feel free to borrow a couple of our inflatable tubes and float the Watauga River.”
With Airbnb’s new highlight feature, you can see which homes are rated in the top 1 percent, 5 percent, or 10 percent with a golden trophy and Guest Favorites badge noted on each listing.
