One lucky lottery player hit a $110,000 jackpot on a ticket sold in North Carolina, lottery officials said.

The winning Cash 5 ticket came from a Family Fare convenience store on Hillsborough Road in Durham, the N.C. Education Lottery said in an Oct. 9 post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The player matched all five numbers drawn Tuesday, Oct. 8, to win big, the lottery said.

Carolina Cash 5 is a rolling jackpot game that starts at $1 to play, the lottery’s website says. The jackpot, which starts at $100,000, is won by matching five numbers chosen from 1 to 43 to all five white balls drawn.

The odds of hitting the jackpot are approximately 1 in 962,568, lottery officials said.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
