‘The Voice’ finalists are revealed. Did NC singer Bryson Battle make the finale?
The time has finally come: the final stages of competition of “The Voice” on NBC.
Week after week, aspiring artists from across the country have been hitting the stage in hopes of ultimately winning this season, including North Carolina’s very own Bryson Battle from Harrisburg.
The 21-year-old, who went to Hickory Ridge High School and even won the 2021 Jimmy Award for Best Performance by an Actor, is no stranger to the stage. As he put it at the beginning of the season, singing has always been his first love — and he’s definitely shown that all season long as part of John Legend’s team.
He even missed his college graduation ceremony for Night 1 of the semifinals.
Tuesday night, Carson Daly announced four semifinalists — out of 12 singers — who made it to live finale Monday, May 19. Another four were sent home.
And then there were four remaining singers who had to sing once more to advance to the finale via the fan-voted “Instant Save.”
Spoiler alert: Here’s how it went and a breakdown of who got eliminated.
Bryson’s last chance for live finale
Battle’s performance of Mariah Carey’s “Without You” didn’t get him into the Top 4, and he was given a chance to sing for the last finalist spot, along with contestants Adam David, Olivia Kuper Harris and Iris Herrera.
As the fourth and final singer to hit the stage for the Instant Save vote, he sang “Talking to the Moon” by Bruno Mars — a performance that had many in the crowd waving their hands.
Legend, his coach, pleaded with fans to vote him into the finale.
“It’s difficult to even talk about this because I did not think you would be in this position today,” Legend said. “I feel like throughout this competition, you’ve given us performances that said you should be in the finale of this show. You gave us one yesterday. You gave us one just now on this stage and you continue to be the epitome of what this show is all about.
“We celebrate incredible vocalists and you are exactly that. You’re phenomenal. You’re special. America, let’s make sure Bryson is in the finale.”
Before finding out the results, Bryson thanked the award-winning artist for his guidance during their time on the show.
“The fact that we even have a relationship is mind-boggling to me and I am so grateful that you took a chance on me and have taught and given me so much life and poured so much into me,” Bryson said. “I’m just so grateful for all your knowledge and your wisdom and your grace. The moments that we spent together, I will remember for the rest of my life.”
So did Bryson get the Instant Save?
Unfortunately, Bryson did not get the Instant Save during the five-minute voting window. Adam David from Team Bublé moved on as the last top five finalist.
