A North Carolina bar serves “everything but the ordinary” — and customers love it.

So much so, Antidote in Asheville ranks as the No. 1 rooftop bar in the state, according to results published June 9.

To determine the “must-visit rooftop gems” across the country, the review website Yelp said it studied ratings and reviews left over time. The feedback came from Elite users, identified as those who are active on the platform.

“There’s something special about light bites and cocktails paired with a stunning view and a gentle breeze,” the website wrote in its report. “To elevate your spring and summer plans, we tapped the Yelp Elites to uncover the top rooftop bar in every state.”

Why Antidote is a fan favorite

Antidote, located at the Chemist Spirits distillery in Asheville, has the “cure for the common cocktail,” according to its website. On its Yelp page, one of the most popular drinks was the gimlet, which has roots in the 1800s and “combines a base spirit with lime juice and cane for a tart, refreshing experience.”

“Antidote offers everything but the ordinary,” Yelp wrote in its report. “From their creative takes on cocktails to beers and wines from all over the world, this is the perfect spot to try something new. Their rooftop is partially covered and offers patrons a welcoming space to enjoy their libations.”

In addition to praising the bar’s unique drinks, Yelp users said they loved the views from the rooftop. When the weather permits, customers can bring their drinks onto the outdoor space throughout the week. There’s also a rooftop cocktail bar that’s open on weekends, according to Antidote.

The business was named the state’s best rooftop bar after Hurricane Helene ravaged parts of Western North Carolina with devastating flooding in September.

After the storm, Antidote expanded its menu to include coffee and tea. The business also serves non-alcoholic mocktail options, according to an Instagram post and an online menu.
