As Netflix’s steamy, suspense-filled series “The Hunting Wives” continues to dominate the streaming charts, many viewers are hopeful that the story won’t end with the first season.

“The Hunting Wives,” starring Brittany Snow, Malin Akerman and Jaime Ray Newman, was the most-streamed series in the U.S. during the last week of July, amassing more than 2 billion views in that time frame, Deadline reported.

Though the adaptation was set in the fictional town of Maple Brook, Texas, a handful of Charlotte-area landmarks served as the backdrop for the show, including downtown Mooresville, Coyote Joe’s and Dilworth Tasting Room, CharlotteFive reported.

But will there be a second season of the hit show? Here’s what you need to know.

Will there be a second season of ‘The Hunting Wives’?

Most likely. Although Netflix has not officially confirmed a second season, signs are strongly pointing toward a return.

According to Town & Country Magazine, Netflix dubbing the first eight episodes at “Season 1” hints that there will be a second season of the show, similar to how another series, “Untamed,” was recently renewed. The cast also has options for more seasons, Deadline reported.

Ackerman, who plays Margo, told People she would “definitely want a season 2, not only to see it all play out, but when you get to go back to a show over and over again, it’s like going to summer camp and seeing the people that you love the most.”

“That’s what this show feels like. I loved everyone on the cast and crew. If we get a second season, I’ll be so, so happy.”

What’s in store for season 2?

Showrunner Rebecca Cutter has hinted that if Netflix gives “The Hunting Wives,” the green light for a sophomore season, it won’t just pick up where the finale left off.

In an interview with Variety, she teased the possibility of “a little bit of a time jump – not a year, but a time” and said it “would be smart” to introduce another murder mystery.

Author May Cobb, whose 2021 novel inspired the series, says she’s equally eager to return to North Carolina — especially after the show’s cliffhanger ending.

“There is so much more story to be told,” Cobb told CBS 19. “It ends on a cliffhanger, and also, the cast and crew were so wonderful. We all just want to get back together and work together again”
