A Myrtle Beach man was arrested on drug and domestic violence charges after police chased him through some woods Sunday in the area of Sixth Avenue South and Ocean Boulevard, according to a police report.

Ricky Brandon Hawks, 33, was charged with kidnapping; criminal domestic violence; second-offense criminal domestic violence; unlawful possession of drugs and resisting arrest, according to the Myrtle Beach Jail records.

Officers were called about a wanted person about 11 a.m. Sunday and saw Hawks at a fast food restaurant, but when he saw the officers he ran across Kings Highway, police said. Officers chased after him and caught him in a wooded area near a campground in that area.

When officers searched Hawks they found two needles, a small bag of used drug slips and a baggy of over the counter pain reliever, according to the report. Hawks told officers he had used the drugs and asked them not to charge him.

Officers also issued Hawks a citation on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the report.

Hawks was wanted on the domestic violence and kidnapping charges after officers were called about 3:30 p.m. Jan. 18 to 1001 S. Ocean Blvd., where a 29-year-old woman told police she argued with him earlier that day about money and he choked her, police said.

Officers noted bruises on her neck and they saw Hawks running from the area, but could not locate him, according to the report.
