Sumter County sheriff’s deputies are searching for a man who has been placed on their most-wanted list after he assaulted his pregnant girlfriend and forced her to drive him around for several hours at gunpoint Friday evening.

A statement released by sheriff’s office officials said 40-year-old Roosevelt Mackie Green, of Sumter, is facing a criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature charge as well as a kidnapping charge after he allegedly punched his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach.

The statement said sheriff’s deputies met with the victim at a local hospital in reference to a domestic dispute. The victim told deputies that she was 27 weeks pregnant, and her boyfriend Green had punched her in the stomach and held her at gunpoint.

According to the statement, the victim said she and Green had gotten into an argument earlier Friday afternoon after Green allegedly had borrowed the victim’s vehicle and was seen with another woman in the car. The victim also said Green did not return the vehicle on time.

Later Friday night, Green returned to his girlfriend’s residence in the 2600 block of McCray’s Mill Road around 10 p.m. and asked her to come outside with him. When the victim stepped outside, Green pointed a black revolver at her and said if she tried to go back in the house he would shoot her in the back, the statement said.

Green forced the victim into her vehicle and told her to drive him around. While they were driving, Green became irate that the victim and the victim’s family would not allow him to use the vehicle. He then pointed the gun at the victim’s stomach and threatened to kill her, their child and the victim’s family before killing himself, the statement said.

At around 11:46 p.m., Green pointed the gun at the victim’s head and told her to call law enforcement to tell them that the victim’s mother has been harassing her about who could drive the vehicle. With the gun still pointed at her head, Green then told the victim to ask law enforcement if the victim’s mother had any right to tell her who could drive the vehicle, the statement said.

After the victim ended the call, she told Green that her mother didn’t have any rights to the victim’s vehicle. That was when Green began to calm down and after several more hours of driving around, he eventually fell asleep.

The statement said the victim began to have stomach pains, and she woke Green to tell him she was going to the hospital. Green told her to pull over and got out of the vehicle near a wooded area on Highway 378 westbound past Arthur Road. The victim said before Green fled the area, he told her that he wasn’t going back to jail, and he would kill her and her family is she went to law enforcement.

Green is described as a black male with medium skin tone, standing 5 feet 7 inches and weighs approximately 180 pounds. He also has a tattoo on his right forearm which reads “Mack 10.” Green is considered to be armed and dangerous.
