An alligator blocked an entrance to a college campus Thursday morning along the South Carolina coast.

The contented-looking gator awaited employees at the back entrance to the Hargray Building on the University of South Carolina Beaufort Gateway Campus.

The Department of Natural Resources removed the alligator to a sanctuary, according to employees.
