A Lexington woman has been arrested for making more than $10,000 in unauthorized purchases by using a Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) account from a local elementary school.

Patricia Brock King, 31, has been charged with breach of trust with fraudulent intent involving more than $10,000, Sheriff Jay Koon said. King is accused of improperly converting funds from the account to pay her personal utility bills and other personal expenses from March 2014 and February 2015.

King was booked at the Lexington County Detention Center early Wednesday morning, Koon said. She was released later on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond.

King converted funds from the PTO account and fundraising events at Saxe Gotha Elementary to her personal use while she was managing the account and funds as president of the PTO, Koon said. The unauthorized purchases King made totaled $10,143 and included 15 cash withdrawals and eight payments for her personal utility bills.

King also used funds from the PTO account to buy gasoline for her personal use and merchandise at clothing and department stores, Koon said.
