The State recently published its first and second installments of Secrets of the Death Chamber, a series exploring the toll executions have taken on some state workers and the history of executions in South Carolina.

South Carolina has executed 43 people since 1985. But no one has been executed since 2011, and prison officials later announced the state had ran out of the drugs used for lethal injections.

The state is now preparing to execute people again. In May, it approved the firing squad as an alternative option to the electric chair, the only method currently available to people on death row, since firing squad preparations are not yet finished.

We want to hear how you feel about the death penalty and the various ways executions can be performed in South Carolina.

Take our short survey to share your thoughts. Your personal information will not be stored when you take this poll, and the answers will help us understand how readers feel about the issue as a whole.
