The burritos at this South Carolina restaurant are the best in the state, Yelp says
A South Carolina spot serves burritos and coffee — and one half of that “unlikely pair” just earned it statewide recognition.
Java Burrito Company on Hilton Head Island now ranks as the No. 1 place to get a burrito in the Palmetto State. It received the honor after the restaurant review website Yelp said it studied the places that customers couldn’t get enough of from January 2019 to February 2022.
“We identified businesses in every state that served burritos, then ranked those spots using a number of factors including the total volume and ratings of reviews,” Yelp said in a March blog post.
The rankings were released ahead of April 7, which is National Burrito Day. But throughout the year, customers have taken to Yelp to rave about Java Burrito’s offerings, including what the restaurant calls an “unlikely” combination of caffeinated drinks and a burrito bar.
“The duo, though, was exactly the sort of fresh food affair we were missing after relocating to Hilton Head Island from Miami,” the business wrote on its website. “Craving South Florida’s scratch-made, zesty combinations exploding with fresh produce, we set out to do it locally, our own way.”
That includes using fresh food from nearby sources, the website said. Yelp users seem to notice, with some of them raving about the quality of the ingredients and the taste of their burritos toppings, helping it earn more than four out of five stars.
Java Burrito — located on William Hilton Parkway — is no stranger to being recognized. And that may be good if you’re thirsty.
In 2018, The Island Packet reported that the restaurant was named the top place for margaritas in South Carolina, A year later, it received a nod for its coffee, which runs on a seasonal menu.
