After winning six-figure lottery jackpot SC man toys with idea of opening business
After cashing in a six-figure winning scratch off game, a Midlands man told South Carolina Education Lottery officials he’s thinking of using the money to start a business.
“I love to cook,” the man said after winning the $300,000 grand prize on a Black Diamond Dazzler game, lottery officials said in a news release.
If it was a hint, he could look for restaurant property in Sumter, where he spent $10 on what turned out to be the winning ticket. The game was sold at the Refuel gas station/convenience store at 1018 Manning Road, according to the release.
“It’s unbelievable,” he said.
The winner will be allowed to retain some privacy, as South Carolina is one of 11 states — along with Arizona, Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, New Jersey, North Dakota, Ohio, Texas and Virginia — that allow lottery winners to remain anonymous.
The odds of winning the top prize in the Black Diamond Dazzler game were one-in-840,000, according to the release. Two of the game’s six top prize-winning tickets remain unclaimed, according to the lottery website.
Refuel received a commission of $3,000 for selling the claimed winning ticket, according to the release.
