Multi-million winning lottery ticket sold at Circle K in South Carolina — again
For the second time this year, somebody won the $2,000,000 grand prize on the Millionaire’s Club scratch-off lottery game. And the winning tickets were bought at Circle K gas station/convenience stores within four miles of each other, South Carolina Education Lottery officials said Wednesday in a news release.
Both of the seven-figure winning tickets were sold in Aiken, according to the release.
The most recent $2 million winning ticket was purchased at the Circle K at 2948 Whiskey Road, while the first one was bought in January at the Circle K at 1014 E. Pine Log Road, officials said.
“I wasn’t expecting it,” January’s winner said in the release. Despite the big prize, he told officials “I still don’t feel like a millionaire.”
The most recent winner said that she “couldn’t believe it. I only bought one ticket.”
Both players won after buying $20 Millionaire’s Club scratch-off games, officials said. The odds of that happening are 1-in-1,260,000, according to the release. Six of the game’s eight top prize-winning tickets remain unclaimed, according to the lottery website.
Neither winner said what they planned to do with their newfound windfalls.
The winners will be allowed to retain some privacy, as South Carolina is one of 11 states — along with Arizona, Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, New Jersey, North Dakota, Ohio, Texas and Virginia — that allow lottery winners to remain anonymous.
The neighboring Circle K stores each received a commission of $20,000 for selling the claimed tickets, according to the release.
