Search ends for South Carolina man with medical, mental health issues, sheriff says
The search for a missing South Carolina man with medical and mental health issues ended Tuesday.
Demond Antonio Glanton was located, and was “safe and well,” according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.
Information about where and when Glanton was found was not available.
Hours earlier Tuesday, Glanton was publicly reported missing by the sheriff’s office. The 45-year-old Edgefield resident had not been seen in more than a week, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
Glanton checked into the American Hearth Motel on July 29 and had not been seen since, according to the release. The motel is at 3935 Richland Ave. West in Aiken, about a mile from the University of South Carolina Aiken campus.
On Aug. 2, Glanton’s family told the sheriff’s office their relative was missing.
There was no word if Glanton was alone when he was last seen. The sheriff’s office did not say if foul play was suspected in Glanton’s disappearance.
Glanton’s family told investigators that the missing man has a diagnosed mental health disorder and is diabetic, according to the release.
