Arrest made in Columbia, SC, hit and run that killed a pedestrian last month, police say
A woman has been charged in a fatal hit and run that killed a pedestrian last month, the Columbia Police Department announced Friday.
Around 6 p.m. on Dec. 19 in the 5400 block of Farrow Road, a Ford pickup truck struck a pedestrian identified as 71-year-old John Corbett. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have charged 31-year-old Tierra F. Johnson with hit and run accident involving death and failure to give information and render aid. She is accused of leaving the scene, not returning to help the victim and not notifying police about what happened.
A judge has issued Johnson a surety bond of $75,000.
The Richland County Coroner’s Office assisted with the investigation.
