Teenager’s body found lying on the side of a South Carolina road, coroner says
A teenager’s body was found by the side of a South Carolina road early Sunday morning, according to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office.
Tranard E. Sheppard, an 18-year-old Warrenville resident, is the man who died, Coroner Darryl Ables said.
At about 1:50 a.m., deputies responded to a 911 call about a shooting in the area of Sarah Street and Farrell Street, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office. That’s where the Henson Manor trailer park is located, in the Warrenville area of Aiken County.
Sheppard was found in a yard by the road in the 400 block of Sarah Street, the sheriff’s office said. The coroner’s office was called and the teen was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:56 a.m., according to Ables.
Sheppard had been shot multiple times in the body, Ables said.
No other injuries were reported.
There was no word about a shooter or shooters, or anyone else involved in the gunfire. Information about a possible motive for the shooting was not available.
No arrests have been reported, but the shooting continues to be investigated by both the sheriff’s office and coroner’s office.
An autopsy will be scheduled in Newberry, Ables said.
