Man arrested for selling fentanyl to deputies three times, SC sheriff says

A man who sold drugs to undercover law enforcement officers on three separate occasions this year has been arrested, according to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.

Brandon Ulysses Pinkard, 41, faces three fentanyl trafficking charges stemming from three controlled purchases, the sheriff’s department said Monday night in a news release.

“On two separate occasions in April, investigators with the Lexington County Multi-Agency Narcotics Enforcement Team conducted controlled purchases of fentanyl from Pinkard from a residence on YMCA Road (in the Red Bank area),” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said in the release. “In May, Pinkard facilitated another controlled purchase of fentanyl on Jamil Road in Columbia.”

Pinkard was arrested June 12, jail records show. The man, who the sheriff’s department said is a North Carolina resident, was denied bond on all three charges and remains locked up in the Lexington County Detention Center, according to jail records.

Two of the charges are for trafficking 28 grams or more of fentanyl, while the other charge is for trafficking 14 grams or more but less than 28 grams, Lexington County court records show.

“Even small amounts of fentanyl can be deadly as drug dealers press the powder into pill form, or sell it in combination with other drugs such as heroin and cocaine,” Koon said. “We’re committed to stopping the flow of fentanyl across the county and the devastation it brings to our community.”

This is not the first time that Pinkard has been arrested in Lexington County.

In April 2021, Pinkard was charged with possession, conceal, sell or dispose of stolen vehicle (value more than $2,000 but less than $10,000), as well as two weapons crimes, court records show. None of the charges were prosecuted and all of them were dismissed in 2024, according to court records.
