2-year-old was at home where drugs and guns were seized in bust, SC sheriff says
A man and woman were arrested on multiple charges following a drug bust at a South Carolina home where a 2-year-old child was present, according to the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office.
Multiple types of narcotics and guns were found Monday at a home in the 900 block of Brown Street, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. That’s in a part of Camden two blocks from the intersection with U.S. 1.
It’s also less than half a mile from Camden Middle School, leading to an additional charge for 37-year-old Jeremy Lee Ray, according to the release. Both he, and 35-year-old Tiffany Nicole Haas, were arrested, the sheriff’s office said.
They were taken into custody after members of the sheriff’s office, the Camden Police Department and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division searched the home, according to the release. The law enforcement officers seized a large quantity of fentanyl, marijuana, methamphetamine, controlled pills, buprenorphine strips, digital scales, a fentanyl press and three guns, the sheriff’s office said.
A 2-year-old child was also present inside the residence at the time of the search, according to the release.
Ray was charged with trafficking fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute a schedule IV controlled substance, possession of a schedule III controlled substance, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, felon in possession of a firearm and possession with intent to distribute within one-half mile of a school, the sheriff’s office said.
Haas was charged with possession of methamphetamine and unlawful conduct toward a child, according to the release.
Haas’ bond was set at $12,000 on the combined charges, and she remains locked up in the Kershaw County Detention Center, jail records show. Information about Ray’s bond status was not available, and he’s not currently listed on the jail’s inmate roster.
