Arrest made after a man was shot at apartment in Columbia, SC police say

Months after man was shot at an apartment complex in South Carolina another man was charged with multiple crimes, according to the Columbia Police Department.

On Tuesday, 32-year-old Duane K. Williams II, was arrested for his role in a Dec. 26, 2025, shooting, police said on social media.

Williams was charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, according to police.

Williams is accused of shooting a man at the Hampton Court Apartments, police said. That’s at 501 Pelham Drive, close to the Woodhill shopping center in a part of Columbia between Garners Ferry Road and Gills Creek.

Police said the victim did not die, but further information on his condition was not available.

No other injuries were reported.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation, according to police.

No bond has been set for Williams, who remains locked up at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, jail records show.

Williams is scheduled to return to court on June 26, Richland County judicial records show.
