Two teens were shot and two others are charged with murder, SC sheriff says

The week after two teenagers were shot, including one who died, four people were arrested, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

On April 13, both 17-year-old Kahlil Simmons and a 16-year-old were victims in a shooting, the sheriff’s office said Wednesday in a news release. Simmons, an Aiken resident, was killed in the shooting, Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables previously said.

At about 6:30 p.m. April 13, deputies responded to a report of two people getting shot in the 100 block of Goodman Road, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office. That’s in Jackson, not far from Atomic Road and the Savannah River Site, a nuclear complex .

Simmons was shot in both the body as well as the head and died at the scene, officials said.

The 16-year-old victim was taken to an area hospital, but further information on his condition was not available.

Following a Tuesday afternoon traffic stop, fellow Aiken residents Jared Grant Marsh II, 18, and Tyler Hans Lariscey, 17, were charged with murder connected to Simmons’ death, the sheriff’s office said in the release. Marsh also was charged with possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, according to the release.

Additionally, a pair of 40-year-olds, Tarah Alexander and Bryan Alexander were arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to murder, the sheriff’s office said. The Alexanders were taken into custody Tuesday night and were booked into the Aiken County Detention Center, along with Marsh and Lariscey, according to the release.

No bond has been set for any of the four, and they all remain locked up, jail records show.

Tarah Alexander was arrested because either Marsh or Lariscey told her about Simmons’ murder, and she then disposed of guns and clothes that were used and worn in the shooting, according to an arrest warrant.

Other than the charge, information about why Bryan Alexander was arrested was not available.

There was no word about a motive for the gunfire.

Both the ATF and the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force assisted the sheriff’s office’s investigation.

Despite the arrests, the sheriff’s office said it’s continuing to investigate the shooting and the four who have been taken into custody could face additional charges.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 803-642-1761.
