Three South Carolina residents were charged with multiple crimes after a man was lured across state lines and killed, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

A federal grand jury in Greenville charged a Roebuck couple — 33-year-old Elisa Marie Rosario and 42-year-old Jeremy Todd Lark (aka Jeremy Abdul Wakil Jones) — and 19-year-old Greenville resident Kezayvian Lee Campbell in a 10-count indictment, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a news release. Rosario, Lark and Campbell each were charged with robbery affecting commerce and conspiracy to do the same, kidnapping resulting in death and conspiracy to do the same, use of a firearm during a crime of violence to cause death, obstruction of justice, interstate transportation of a stolen vehicle, destruction of the vehicle (by fire) to prevent its search and seizure by law enforcement and providing false statements to federal agents, according to the release.

The charges stem from events that began June 16, 2025, when the Spartanburg County couple and the teen executed a scheme to kidnap and rob a man identified as M.B.G., the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. M.B.G. was engaged in a business and activities affecting interstate commerce (of money, jewelry, a cell phone, and a 2025 Hyundai Genesis he rented from Enterprise), according to the release.

Rosario, Lark and Campbell enticed M.B.G. to travel from South Carolina to Harrah’s Casino in Cherokee, North Carolina under the pretense of a date with Rosario, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. That’s about 50 miles north of the state line with South Carolina.

In preparation for their trip to North Carolina, Rosario, Lark and Campbell were in possession of two guns and other materials they planned to use in the commission of the crimes, including latex gloves and masks, according to the release.

Early in the morning of June 17, shortly after M.B.G. arrived at the casino, Rosario urged the victim to leave, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. Rosario and the victim then went to a nearby convenience store, and after a few minutes Rosario drove the victim away and then pulled the car over for an ambush, according to the release. When the rental car was parked, Campbell exited Lark’s car and entered the victim’s car, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Traveling in two cars, Rosario, Lark and Campbell held M.B.G. and drove the victim 12 miles away into Sylva, North Carolina to rob him, according to the release. During the robbery, Rosario, Lark and Campbell fatally shot the victim, the U.S. Attorney’s office said.

While traveling, Rosario, Lark and Campbell discarded some of the victim’s property, according to the release. Later that evening, authorities in Spartanburg located the victim’s body and his burning rental car in a wooded area near the intersection of Woodburn Road and Pinecrest Road, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. That’s more than 100 miles from where M.B.G. is believed to have been killed.

Information about how Rosario, Lark and Campbell were connected to M.B.G.’s death was not available, but the victim’s jewelry was found in the defendants’ Roebuck home, according to the release.

“The alleged actions of these defendants show a dark and devious scheme that crossed states lines and ultimately resulted in death,” U.S. Attorney Bryan Stirling said in the release.

Rosario, Lark and Campbell each faces a maximum punishment of life in federal prison, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. The trio’s currently detained pending a hearing before U.S. Magistrate Judge Kevin McDonald, according to the release. The case was investigated by the FBI Columbia Field Office, Spartanburg Police Department and Spartanburg Fire Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Leesa Washington is prosecuting the case.

”This alleged conduct was callous and showed a deliberate disregard for human life,” FBI Columbia Special Agent in Charge Kevin Moore said in the release. “This multi-count indictment is the result of a thorough, data-driven and forensically supported investigation ... in identifying, building a case against and apprehending the defendants.”
