“Heavily intoxicated” and “reeking of alcohol,” two underage men tried to outrun police Friday morning after authorities said the men shoplifted a case of beer from a Myrtle Beach gas station, according to a police report.
Kenneth Douglas Treadaway, 20, whose hometown was not listed, is charged with petit larceny, minor with alcohol, and public intoxication, and was being held at the Myrtle Beach Jail on $1,201 bond Friday.
Austin Blake Killough, 19, whose hometown was not listed, is charged with shoplifting, minor with alcohol, and public intoxication, and was also being held at the Myrtle Beach Jail on $1,201 bond, according to jail records.
Myrtle Beach police were called about the theft at the Sun Fun Exxon at 211 S. Kings Hwy., about 1:40 a.m., authorities said. A 58-year-old female store clerk told police one of the men tried to buy a case of Busch Light beer, but ran out of the store with it when the clerk realized he was underage, police said.

Authorities used gas station surveillance footage and saw the green sports utility vehicle in which the men left the gas station. They spotted the SUV at a hotel a few blocks from the store. A roommate told police the men were on the beach.
