Burned body found on SC councilman’s property
A body burned inside a vehicle Friday morning was discovered on property that belongs to a Yemassee councilman.
Investigators from the Yemassee Police Department and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division were called to the scene off U.S. Highway 17 after hunters found the body inside the car around 9:30 a.m.
The property is owned by Yemassee councilman Jordan Jinks, who said he has been trying to sell the vacant land for several years, according to a report from Savannah television station WTOC.
The case was passed to SLED as investigators attempt to identify the body, the WTOC report said. The police department is also going through missing persons reports.
