Two people died Wednesday in a South Carolina collision in Lancaster County, officials said.

The two fatalities were both men, said Karla Knight-Deese, Lancaster County Coroner. The names of the two persons have not yet been released pending notification of families, Knight-Deese said.

The crash happened before 6 a.m. on S.C. 903 east of Lancaster close to the Antioch crossroads, said Darren Player, Lancaster County Emergency Management Director.

S.C. 903 was closed for several hours and county officials alerted South Carolina emergency and transportation officials because of the closure of a main road, Player said. Detours were put in place for morning commuters headed north toward Charlotte and west toward the city of Lancaster and Rock Hill, Player said.

The wreck remains under investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol and the coroner’s office.

The highway patrol has not yet released details about the collision.
