1 dead, 2 hurt in York County SC collision near Fort Mill, trooper says

A passenger in one of two vehicles has died in a crash Monday near Fort Mill, officials said. Two other people were injured, officials said.

The name of the person who was killed in the crash on Pleasant Road near Gold Hill Road has not been released by the York County Coroner’s Office.

The area is west of Interstate 77 and Exit 88.

The collision happened around 12:20 p.m., said Master Trooper Gary Miller of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

A 1991 Mazda coupe driven by an 18-year-old collided with a Chevrolet SUV, Miller said. The passenger in the Mazda was killed, Miller said.

The driver of the SUV was 41 years old and had one passenger, Miller said. That driver was injured.

The passenger in the SUV was not injured, Miller said.

The condition of the two people who were hurt has not been released.

The wreck remains under investigation by the S.C. Department of Public Safety and the coroner’s office.
