Weather forecast: Expect big temperature swings over next few days in Rock Hill area
You’ll want to pay attention to the forecast over the next few days because meteorologists say we’re in for some big swings in temperatures across the Rock Hill area.
Afternoon highs will be spring-like one day, then more like winter the next.
By the time we reach the weekend, forecasters say, it’ll be back to something more closely resembling winter.
Temperatures, expected to approach 70 degrees Wednesday, will drop Thursday as a cool high pressure system over the Northeast builds into the region. Much warmer air is predicted to arrive Friday, but forecasters say it won’t last long.
Cooler weather is expected to be back Saturday and last for several days.
Thursday forecast is tricky, National Weather Service meteorologist Justin Lane said.
It’s unclear how far south the cooler air will build, and it’s possible there could be big temperature differences over relatively short distances in the Carolinas.
Temperatures in the upper 50s are likely in much of North Carolina, while low 70s are expected over South Carolina’s Midlands, Lane said.
“Between those two areas, it’s pretty much anyone’s ball game between those two extremes,” he said.
Rock Hill-area temperatures Thursday could be anywhere from around 60 degrees to the lower 70s.
Warmer weather is likely Friday, with highs soaring into the mid-70s, Lane said.
Then a cool down is forecast for Saturday, with afternoon highs reaching the mid-50s.
Rain is possible Saturday night and for the first half of Sunday. Highs in the 50s are predicted for Sunday and Monday.
