Icy roads after Rock Hill area snow: Schools in York, Chester, Lancaster cancel classes
All school districts in York, Chester, and Lancaster counties canceled classes Wednesday because of ice after snow fell in upstate South Carolina.
“The snowfall will create slippery and snow covered roadways,” the National Weather Service said in a statement.
York County has four school districts.
Rock Hill, Fort Mill, York and Clover schools said in statements classes are canceled
Chester and Lancaster counties each have one school district. Chester County schools and Lancaster County schools both canceled classes.
Snow fell in the area Tuesday night, but icy conditions on roads remained Wednesday even with clear skies. And it remains unclear when roads will be free of ice because the high temperature Wednesday is only expected to reach 32 degrees.
