Friday rain in York County flooded roads that had to be closed. Here’s which ones

York County officials closed three roads Friday after heavy rain caused flooding, officials said.

South Fork Road, Stallcup Road, and the gravel portion of Milling Road were all closed by York County Public Works Friday afternoon, according to York County Emergency Management.

The three roads are south of Rock Hill between the city and the Chester County line.

No information has been released about when the roads will re-open.

No other weather-related problems were reported to emergency responders, said Trent Faris, spokesman for the York County Sheriff’s Office.

One lane in a portion of S.C. 901, Mount Holly Road, south of Rock Hill near Interstate 77 Exit 73 was covered with water Friday, sheriff officials said in a statement Friday afternoon. Deputies urged caution in the area, according to postings on the sheriff’s office Facebook and Twitter.

More than an inch of rain fell in York County Friday at the York County airport, according to the National Weather Service. Wet weather is possible through Saturday, officials said. Higher amounts were reported south of the the airport, officials said.

The weather service issued a hazardous weather advisory Friday for York and Chester counties that last through Saturday morning. The advisory stated possible thunderstorms will be capable of dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning and torrential rainfall. A few of the storms may also pose a risk of brief damaging wind gusts, the weather service said.

Isolated flooding is possible, weather service forecasters said.
